Serve Idaho announces $1,415,388 in AmeriCorps Grants
Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service & Volunteerism is proud to announce that AmeriCorps is growing in Idaho. Four AmeriCorps grants, totaling over 1.4 million dollars have been awarded through Serve Idaho, the Governor's Commission on Service and Volunteerism, from the Corporation for National and Community Service for the 2008-2009 program year. Statewide, 173 AmeriCorps members will provide direct service to meet critical community needs.
“Working together toward achieving common goals is how America was founded and why it remains great. Community Service and Volunteerism are the very essence and full expression of civic virtue, and I’m proud that Idaho is a part of this important program,” Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter said.
This year's AmeriCorps grant recipients include:
Idaho State Independent Living Council
Lewis-Clark State College for the Lewis - Clark Service Corps.
Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute for the Environmental Education Corps of Idaho.
Student Conservation Association, Inc. to create the AmeriCorps Salmon – Challis National Forest Intern Training Center. |
